In order to download pictures or video from your digital camera to the Hosted Desktop, follow these steps below.
Note: that you do NOT need to install any software that came with your digital camera. Digital cameras connected via USB are recognized as Mass Storage Devices in Windows and the images can be accessed directly without the need for software from the maker of the camera.
Prerequisite: the digital camera's cable MUST plug into a USB port on a computer. Digital cameras with other ports such as as firewire or eSata are NOT supported.
- Connect and login to your Hosted Desktop
- Open Windows Explorer (click on the Windows icon and the click on "Computer" on the right hand column).
- Plug your digital camera's cable into the USB port of your PC or thin client.
- Within a few seconds you will see a new Removable Drive show up.
- Double-click on the new drive and browse to the directory that contains your pictures or video.
- Copy the pictures or video and paste into your My Documents folder.
- Note that the speed will vary on the size of the files and your Internet connection's upload speed. Please be patient as this can take a few minutes.
- Once finished, you can manipulate your pictures as you normall would - edit them, email them, etc.
