Using a Network Scanner

To use a network scanner in your office with your Hosted Desktop:

  1. Most network scanners can send the scan as a pdf or tif file via email. The scanner requires the name of an email server - set this to the SMTP server name (ask your ISP or email provider for this). If you are using our Hosted Exchange service, the email server is: mx1.mail.nextdesktop.com
  2. Some network scanners can send via FTP. Please contact our support team for details, including cost.
  3. If neither of the above two solutions is supported by your network scanner, then please contact our support team for other options.

Scanners that connect via USB, Parallel or Serial ports are not currently supported. Let us know if you need this and we'll add it to our future features list. The work-around is to scan normally to your client device and then copy the scanned files to your Hosted Desktop.
